The plant’s excess power even charges our EV shuttle buses that connect the hostel to academic blocks.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
Initiated by our Green Warriors Club, this program reduced hostel waste by 82% through color-coded bins, composting workshops, and “upcycling days” where students transform materials into art. The kitchen now uses biodegradable cutlery made from millet by local women’s self-help groups, creating a circular economy. ECE students Deepthi and Aishwarya’s low-cost water sensor, costing just \u20b9800, detects 12 contaminants and alerts via SMS. After field testing in 5 villages near Ongole, the project secured \u20b910 lakhs from the AP Innovation Society. “Our Embedded Systems lab’s prototyping tools were crucial,” says Deepthi, now scaling the solution through the college’s incubation center.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
Open to all departments, the club meets Saturdays for activities like organic gardening (our terrace grows 50kg of vegetables monthly) and “green hackathons.” Upcoming events include a webinar with Swachh Bharat Mission officials and a field trip to a solar farm.
